Jim spent 14 years as the bass of the venerable Dapper Dans of Disneyland and still sings with them occasionally. He is a vocalist in The Perfect Gentlemen quartet, having won the National Acapella Championship with them in 2002, recording several albums and traveling on numerous tours.
As a choral singer Jim has sung in concert with the Los Angeles Philharmonic, Pacific Symphony Pops, Santa Barbara Symphony, San Francisco Symphony, The Hollywood Bowl Orchestra and The Louisville Orchestra. Jim has also sung with the Los Angeles Chamber Singers, Pacific Chorale, Angeles Chorale and The LA Choral Artists. He is bass soloist/section leader for Canterbury Choir at All Saints Church Pasadena and is a sought-after guest soloist with other churches in LA. He also does freelance studio session work.
Jim's barbershop background includes the Louisville Thoroughbreds and numerous competition quartets both in the Cardinal and Far Western Districts. Jim grew up around his mother's Sweet Adelines activities and learned to sing harmony by singing along with recordings of men’s and women’s quartets as a boy. He occasionally coaches quartets and choruses and does barbershop arranging.
Jim also spent 8 years in the U.S. Army Reserves doing flight operations for a helicopter ambulance unit, being honorably discharged with the rank of Sergeant E-5. Jim's other interests include golf, tennis, home improvement projects, Scrabble, crosswords, movies, space exploration, vintage sheet music and raising chickens. Jim resides in Glendora with his lovely wife Danae and young son Will.
